Good to know

Engineered boards have a real wood wear layer over a stable core, so they move far less than solid timber with heat and humidity. That makes them the practical choice for kitchens, open-plan spaces and underfloor heating.

We fit plank, wide-board and herringbone engineered floors, floated or glued down depending on the subfloor, with proper expansion gaps and neat thresholds.

Common questions

What is the difference between engineered and solid wood?

Engineered boards are layered for stability with a real oak wear layer on top; solid boards are one piece of timber. Once fitted they look identical, but engineered handles modern heating and humidity better.

Can engineered wood be sanded later?

Yes. A quality wear layer can typically be sanded and refinished once or twice over the life of the floor.

Is engineered wood suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, it is the recommended real-wood option over underfloor heating. We confirm the board specification is rated for it before ordering.
