Good to know
Restoration starts with repairs: loose boards secured, damaged sections replaced, nails punched down and gaps filled. We then sand through the grades with dust-extracted machines before staining, oiling or lacquering to the finish you want.
Oil finishes look natural and are easy to patch-repair; lacquers are harder-wearing for busy hallways. We will explain the trade-offs on each job rather than defaulting to one product.
Common questions
Is floor sanding dusty?
Modern sanders run with dust extraction, which removes the vast majority of dust. We also sheet off doorways, so the rest of the house stays clean.
How soon can I walk on the floor?
Light foot traffic is usually fine the next day, with rugs and furniture back after a few days depending on the finish used. We confirm exact times when we know the product.
What if my boards are too damaged to sand?
We will tell you honestly at the survey. Isolated damage can be repaired with matched boards; if the whole floor is too far gone we will quote alternatives instead of sanding it anyway.
