Good to know
Stair runners combine a fitted centre strip with exposed painted or timber edges, which suits Victorian and Edwardian staircases especially well. We measure each step, align any pattern, and finish edges with binding so the runner sits perfectly.
Straight flights, winders and landing turns all need different handling. Brass or black stair rods are optional; they are decorative rather than structural, but they finish a traditional staircase beautifully.

Can you fit runners on winding staircases?
Yes. Winders and turns need each step templated individually so the pattern stays aligned, and that precision work is our speciality.
Are stair rods included?
Rods are optional. We can supply brass, black or antique-finish rods to suit the runner, or fit the runner cleanly without them.
What is the difference between a runner and full stair carpet?
A runner leaves part of each step exposed either side, showing off painted or timber stairs. Full stair carpet covers the whole step. Runners tend to suit period homes; both are fitted with the same care.
